Municipal Court

Raritan Township/Hampton Borough Municipal Court

Did you know that the vast majority of cases heard in New Jersey courts are filed in one of 567 municipal courts and for the average person, a municipal court is their first experience with the New Jersey court system?

Here in the Raritan Township/Hampton Borough Municipal Court, we hear a wide variety of cases including motor vehicle offenses, petty disorderly and disorderly persons complaints which can include assault, shoplifting and drug cases, as well as local agency and code enforcement violations. We also host a program called Community Dispute Resolution which seeks to resolve disputes between parties with the assistance of trained mediators. Cases that might be referred to mediation include noise complaints, harassment complaints, bad check complaints, animal complaints and similar issues.

We hold three court sessions each month with morning and evening sessions. Our Violations Bureau is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm where our knowledgeable staff will be pleased to assist you.
