how do I get to recycling?

The Township has a Recycling drop off center located at 204 Pennsylvania Ave., Flemington, NJ 08822. This drop off center is for Raritan Township residents only. Residents must purchase a recycling sticker prior to dropping off the materials. Residents can also purchase a non-recycling permit for the drop off of brush or old furniture. There are some exceptions to non-recycling items the Township will not accept.

what can I recycle?

THE FOLLOWING ITEMS ARE RECYCLABLE AND WILL BE ACCEPTED UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED:

  • Hazardous E-WASTE pertains to these items ONLY
      Computers, Laptops, Monitors, & Televisions

      All other electronic devices and accessories are nonhazardous and should be disposed of in regular garbage or with the Township Non-Recycling permit.

  • Newspapers, Paper, Magazines, Catalogs, Junk Mail, Phone Books & Shredded Paper

      Please bundle tightly with strong string

  • Cardboard & Brown Paper Bags

      Cardboard doesn’t need to be broken down-WILL BE CRUSHED

  • Plastic Bottles & Glass Containers
  • Tins Cans
  • Aluminum Cans
  • Metal Items

      Steel, Tin, Aluminum, Appliances

      Note: Freon (refrigerant) must be removed from appliances. Propane Tanks must have the valve removed (Empty).

  • Drain Oil (USED OIL ONLY 

      No drums of any type, No antifreeze or other additives

  • Tires

      Car $5.00/tire Truck $7.00/tire

      No tires on rims, no mud, no tractor tires

  • Leaves – Drop off from October 1st through December 18th
  • Clothing

     Clothing boxes are available

  • Christmas Trees – Residents Only! REMOVE ALL TINSEL & DECORATIONS FROM TREES FOR RECYCLING. If the tree meets requirements listed above, it will be accepted without the use of your Non-Recycling permit cost

when do leaves get picked up?

Leaf collection in the Township will begin October 19, 2015 and continue thru December 18, 2015, weather permitting.  Please help assist the Township in its efforts to render the best service possible.  Please have all leaves at curbside by December 14, 2015 for pickup.

when is recycling open?

Our hours of operation are:

Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays - 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM

Saturdays - 7:30 AM to 12:00 noon

Closed all Sundays, Snow Days
