The Township will continue to monitor non-recyclables by requiring residents to obtain a permit. The permit allows one drop off per month, limit of six (6) per year for each residence - Permits issued at the Clerk's Office, 1 Municipal Drive, Monday through Friday between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Hours for this program are the same as for the Recycling Program.

** The Non-Recycling Program is for residential use only, however, residents may use vehicles with commercial plated with pickup loads only!

Recycling Stickers are required and may be obtained from the Township Clerks office. As of January 2009 recycling stickers will be issued at the Department of Public Works, located on Pennsylvania Avenue.

The following items are RECYCLABLE ITEMS and will be accepted at any time unless otherwise stated:

Clear, Brown & green only
Food & beverage containers only
Rinse and remove any metal caps, corks or plastic pouring spouts
LABELS MAY BE LEFT ON
We cannot accept window glass, plate glass, light bulbs or dinnerware

All-aluminum cans are easily identified, a magnet will not adhere to them
We cannot accept other types of aluminum such as TV dinner trays and pet food cans

Please bundle tightly with strong string
NO mailed advertising
NO wet newspapers
NO plastic bags
NO brown bags mixed with newspapers

Used oil only
NO antifreeze or other additives

Steel, tin, aluminum, appliances

Exceptions:
NO fencing
NO metal drums
NO tires on motors and bikes
NO refrigerators or air conditions until further notice
NO propane cylinders for gas grills, etc...

Car $5.00, Truck $7.00
No tires on rims and no mud
No tractor tires

A Salvation Army box for clothing is available

All caps and tops must be removed
Bottles only, no containers or plastic items
Category 1 - Milk and water only
Category 2 - Detergent bottles
Category 3 - Plastic soda bottles
We cannot accept oil bottles

No phone books

All tinsel and decorations MUST BE REMOVED from trees or the tree will not be accepted!

The following Will Not Be Accepted:

1. NO vehicles larger than pickup trucks
2. NO enclosed trailers
3. NO concrete, rocks or bricks of any size
4. NO sheet rock, shingles or pallets
5. NO hazardous material, batteries, or paint cans
6. NO tree stumps, grass clippings, weeds or garden debris **
7. NO construction material (Lumber, windows, etc.) ***
8. NO trucks higher than 2 feet (water level)
9. NO household garbage or trash
10. NO firewood
11. ** Raritan Township is unable to accept yard waste (item 6) because of strict NJDEP Guidelines that cannot be complied with.
12. *** Construction debris may be taken to the Hunterdon County Transfer Station located in Annandale, NJ. They do accept most of the building materials. For information call 908-236-9088.
